Teleflex heavy duty accelerator control systems provide the complete integrated package – from the pedal to the engine connection – and are ideal for trucks, buses, farm and construction equipment, in fact any application where a foot accelerator with no complicated linkage or difficult alignment or adjustment is required.
208994 Foot Pedal
The accelerator pedal is constructed of cast aluminium and plated steel components, with bearings on all moving parts for easy operation and long life. The diamond pattern tread is specially designed for better grip. All pedals are suitable for use at temperatures down to – 50°C.
The Pedal hinge point is fully bushed ergonomically positioned to minimise pedal flutter induced by rough conditions, e.g. off highway, by placing the hinge point beneath the drivers heel contact line. The pedal includes built-in stops on the unit to prevent excess cable loads and provides 2” (50mm) cable stroke for a 30° pedal movement. It also incorporates a built–in return spring.
The tension operated high efficiency cables offered for use with the Teleflex Heavy Duty System are of the highest quality. Systems using these cables have proved that they require less servicing and down time than equivalent mechanical systems involving rods and linkage, and give the simplest and most reliable method of governor control.
The cables are constructed to operate freely, in severe environments, at temperatures ranging from – 40°C to +100°at loads up to 45.3kg (100lb).
They are designed to have a neutral axis, i.e. the length, and hence the operating stroke, remain constant irrespective of the number of bends or coils in the cable run. The flexible core is stainless steel with neoprene rubber boots at both ends to keep out dirt and other contaminates.
Teleflex accelerator are supplied with a 6mm balljoint fitted to the cable, other fittings can be used, see below.
Cables require support brackets at the governor and these must be of very rigid construction to ensure a firm, positive system performance.
Bulkhead cables pass directly through the bracket and are screwed to it by the nuts and washers supplied; clamp cables require the U Bolt and clamp kit 063651 to secure the cable to the bracket, but often allow the use of a simplified bracket design. Clevises, balljoints and pivots are available for connection to the engine governor arm.
